George "Buck" Coltharp, Jr., 65, Manhattan, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday December 29, 2016, at Stormont- Vail Hospital, Topeka, Kansas. Buck was born on December 5, 1951 in Manhattan, to George Riley and Pauline Marie (Siebold) Coltharp Sr., the oldest of four children. He attended schools in Manhattan and graduated Manhattan High School, Class Of 1970. Buck was active in sports, working on old cars and being with family and friends growing up. After high school, Buck worked for Kroger's and drove for Mayflower.

While with Mayflower, Buck met Penny Lee (Feldhausen) Bellman. Buck and Penny were married July 11, 1976. Following Buck's days of truck driving, he started a new career in maintenance on apartments in Manhattan and later moved to the Kansas City area. In 1993, Buck moved back to Manhattan, where he dabbled in various jobs, at Quaker Oats, OfficeMart, night custodian at Manhattan Town Center Mall, Caterpillar of Wamego, and most recently, taking care of his youngest granddaughter for the past four years.

Buck loved watching sports, shows about cars, the History channel, and spending quality time with his family and friends. Buck loved working on computers and was very good at it, even though he was self-taught. He enjoyed going on walks and always said he hopes to find a "Rocket in a pocket". Every Saturday he made sure that he bought his lottery tickets in hopes of winning the big one.

Buck was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Tony (TC) and Merle, and an infant son. He is survived by his sister Michelle Lehmer and husband John, sister in-law Val Coltharp, children Robby and wife Tammy of Manhattan, Angie of Junction City and his grandchildren Elana, Taryn, Karissa, his sidekick, Hadyn Grace, several nieces and nephews and many loving friends.

The family will greet friends during a visitation from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, Sunday January 15, 2017 at Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home. Per Buck's request, there will be no services at this time; he wouldn't want us to fuss over him. We should all continue to celebrate his life by sharing fond memories and stories of such a caring and loving man.
