James P. Reed

James P. Reed, 22, of 2401 Vaughn, died early this morning from a self-inflicted shotgun wound.
    Reed's body was found about 4 a.m. by his mother in the basement of their home. He had a single shotgun wound in his chest. The exact time of death wasn't known at last report.
    Police said no suicide note has been found.
    Reed was born Sept. 5, 1952, in Neosho, Mo. He lived in Manhattan about 10 years.
    He was a 1970 graduate of Manhattan High School and a member of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church.
    Survivors include his parents, Sgt. and Mrs. M. J. Reed, of the home; a brother Patrick J. Reed, 1925 Platt; three sisters, Mrs. Jacqueline M. Dunlap, 715 Moro, Teresa and Debra Reed, both of the home; and his grandmother, Mrs. W. M. Wentz, Starke, Fla.
    Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Seven Dolors Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. John Moeder officiating. Burial will be in the Sunrise Cemetery. The Conroy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangments.
